Prince of Peace Lutheran Church operates a preschool program for 3 and 4 year old children.
Our preschool, with Christ as its centre, strives to help children develop in all dimensions of their being. This means nurturing the child in his or her spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative development.
We believe that young children learn about themselves and others, about the world they live in and about God who made them and loves them by interaction with people and objects. Young children learn by doing.
Our goals are:
- To help children experience the love of God, through Christ, who desires to be their Lord and Saviour.
- To nurture a positive self-concept in children. This means encouraging children to accept themselves as God made them: as unique beings with talents and limitations. It also means helping them to accept and appreciate others.
- To enhance the social development of children by encouraging the development of positive, loving relationships, and by promoting good manners.
- To enhance the emotional development of children by helping them experience feelings and express them in a constructive way.
- To foster the intellectual development of children by encouraging a desire to learn, by developing thinking processes, and by helping children acquire and use language.
- To enhance physical development of children. This includes promoting good nutrition, and developing large motor, fine motor and perceptual motor skills.
- To foster the creative development of children. This means encouraging the development of new ideas, original products, and unique ways of doing things. It also means helping children express themselves through the various arts, and helping children appreciate the beauty in creation.
