Week 10

Samuel (1 Samuel 1-3)

Big Ideas:  The central theme of this week's message is that God is with us and blesses us at home, at school, at church, and wherever we are. God's true Word enriches our spirits and our lives as we daily discover His purpose for us.

Hannah prayed with all her heart for a son. She promised God that if He would bless her with a son, she would give him back to His service. God blessed Hannah and she kept her word. Young Samuel was brought up in the Lord's service and God used him as a mighty prophet who spoke God's word to His people, continuing to proclaim the ongoing promise of a Saviour.

Young Samuel led a busy and complicated life. Our children today often are busy with many activities at home or scheduled outside of the home. The comfort we can take is the same comfort given to Samuel. "The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up." (1 Samuel 3:19). We know that the Lord will be with our children as they grow up. Daily they hear God's Word at school. This is affirmed and deepened by your sharing of God's Word with your children at home.

As we learned right from the beginning, the Bible is God's Word to ... US! The Word is also powerful and active. God the Holy Spirit works in and through the Word wherever it is spoken, read, heard, or sung. God is with us. Amen!
